Anthracnose (Collectotrichum Granincola)
What is Anthracnose?
This is a common turf disease, which attacks the turf when local conditions are conducive for the organism to become active. This commonly attacks the poa annua ( annual meadowgrass ) as this is a very high dominate species of most grass swards.
What to look for:
The grass sward will start to go a yellow bronze colour in isolated areas and then go darker brown. Basal rot symptoms can be slightly different depending on the grass species Annual Meadow grass will go yellow and Bent grass will go a red /bronze colour.
Cultural practices will help such as spiking, slitting anything to get water down through the root zone.
