The UK’s largest forestry and arboriculture exhibition provides an opportunity for Agrigem to share its latest approach to one of the sector’s most persistent pests.
Large pine weevil can cause significant damage to young conifers, with feeding pressure potentially leading to plant losses and costly replanting. With no single product providing season-long protection from nursery through to establishment, Agrigem is promoting an integrated approach that combines Gazelle SG®, Lanzarta® and Forester® as part of a planned programme.
Called Tri-Guard, the strategy brings together three products to provide protection across different stages of tree establishment, while rotating active ingredients to support resistance management.
It is built around the complementary roles of:
- Gazelle SG® – forming part of the protection programme during the nursery and establishment stages.
- Lanzarta® – providing extended residual control when trees are exposed to high pest pressure.
- Forester®– providing rapid knockdown during peak infestations.
By combining the three products within a planned programme, Agrigem believes foresters can take a more robust and integrated approach to managing Hylobius abietis, rather than relying on a single product throughout the season.
The programme is designed to support:
- Protection from nursery through the critical establishment years
- Extended residual control in the forest when pest pressure is highest
- Rapid knockdown during peak infestations
- Rotation of active ingredients to support resistance management
- Reduced risk of plant losses and costly replanting
