Blue Gem dye is a food-grade safe, non-toxic, temporary visual marker allowing you to see exactly where you’ve sprayed herbicide. This helps prevent over-dosing, missed spots and wasted product.
Blue Gem dye fades with the sun or washes away with rain, so will naturally disappear after a few days. It is completely safe to mix Blue Gem with herbicides, but you can also mix it with pesticides, fungicides, insecticides, moss killers, and liquid fertilisers.
How To Use Blue Gem Dye Indicator
You will need to use 125-300ml of Blue Gem per 100 litres of water. So if you are using a 5 litre pump up sprayer, then you will need just 6.25-15ml of Blue Gem dye. Use the higher rate if using Blue Gem on grass to ensure you can clearly see the treated areas.
Half fill your spray tank with clean water, stir or agitate the water and then add the required amount of Blue Gem. Add your herbicide or required product and then fill the tank with water to the desired level to commence spraying.
You will notice the target weeds / plants turn blue after application making it easy to see where you have applied the herbicide. Try and use a consistent spray method for ultimate efficiency.
Considerations
Always read the label when applying herbicides and always follow the instructions. Ensure you wear the correct PPE for the job and protect exposed skin from the impact of spray.
Before using herbicides, try and choose a dry day where no rain is forecast for six – eight hours. Ideally choose a warm day with a gentle breeze where the temperature range is between 10°C and 18°C. This target temperature range can vary depending on the product so always consult the label.
