Agrigem has been helping home gardeners as well as professional growers, landscapers, and grounds keepers for more than 13 years. So we asked some of our professional customers to share their top products to use in the garden in August; and here are those that made our top ten!
Slow N Liquid Grass Fertiliser
Slow N is a slow-release soluble liquid grass fertiliser with the ratio 28-0-0. This high nitrogen summer liquid turf fertiliser is formulated to encourage rapid green up and healthy growing grass (perfect after the heat stress suffered by so many lawns this year). Professionals like it for its longevity - typically 50% greater than a conventional liquid fertiliser. Use on lawns and paddocks.
Premier Drought Tolerant Grass Seed
Not all grass seed is created equal! Seed selected for its ability to be tolerant to drought is unsurprisingly in demand this year. Our professional customers use it to ensure grass is resilient through dryer spring and summer months. So if you’re reseeding your lawn or want to create a more robust summer lawn from scratch, do as the pros do and select a high quality drought tolerant mix like Premier Drought Tolerant Grass Seed.
Emerald Pro Organic Seaweed Fertiliser
Emerald Pro Organic Seaweed Fertiliser can be used on a wide range of plants including lawn turf, paddock grass, ornamentals, glasshouse crops, soft fruit, flowers and salads. This star of the organic fertiliser world is a concentrated seaweed extract manufactured from Ascophyllum Nodosum Algae harvested from the Atlantic Ocean. Growers love it for its ability to improve plant sugar content and root mass, and promote uniform ripening, stronger leaves and increased yield.
Native Wildflower Seed Mix
Although best sown in autumn, our professional customers tend to get ready to sow wildflower meadows in August, and our native wildflower mix is one of their favourites. This particular blend is a balanced mixture of attractive, brightly coloured and vigorous annuals - all native to the UK. Bang on trend this year, it contains 100% annual wildflowers which used to be commonly seen in cornfields and are now favoured in wildflower meadows.
Biological Fruit and Vegetable Protection
If you haven’t tried using nematodes to control fruit and veg caterpillars and pests yet, now is the time. These nematodes will help control many fruit and vegetable pests in just one product. It contains a mix of species of nematodes including Steinernema feltiae and Steinernema carpocapsae which are naturally occurring microscopic worm-like organisms that act as natural pest controls. Our professional growers use these nematodes as they tackle such a large range of fruit and veg pests.
Abzorb Triple Action Wetting Agent
Dry lawns can be a problem in August – but not for those in the know! Abzorb Wetting Agent lowers the surface tension of water, improving its penetrating and spreading qualities. It works well as a preventative and curative method against dry patch (patches of brown, dying grass amongst otherwise healthy lawn) and is effective when used monthly from spring onwards - helping to improve moisture retention in lawns, and lower the amount of water you would use to keep your lawn green in very dry periods.
Milwaukee Self Propelled Mower
Our professional landscapers love this mower for its top cutting quality. It offers exceptional peak power and torque to handle the toughest jobs with a 3-in-1 grass management system for mulching, bagging, or rear-side discharge. The mower’s adjustable self-propelled mechanism offers 5-speed settings, reaching up to 6.4km/h, with an active speed management paddle for precise control. It can cut up to 2000m² on a single charge of two M18 High Output 12.0Ah battery packs!
Portek Ezy Sprayer
This 12 litre Portek Ezy Spray is a firm favourite among our professional customers. A powerful 3-bar pressure sprayer with a 12-litre capacity, it is ideal for garden borders, weed and pest control, spot spraying and maintenance. It is compact and highly portable with a coiled extending feed pipe and a quality lance and relief valve. This 12L Ezy Spray is easy to fill and holds pressure for much longer than lower quality alternatives meaning you can complete spraying projects quicker and more efficiently.
Westland Landscape Bark
There are so many benefits to using bark, it’s no surprise that it’s frequently in the shopping baskets of our professional customers in August. Westland Landscape Bark reduces the need for frequent weeding and helps to retain moisture in the soil – significantly reducing the amount of watering required in hotter months. Westland Bark is produced from responsible conifer plantations which are grown for the timber industry and are certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council.
Clip Gloves
You can never have enough gloves, and our professionals always carry a spare stock! These clip gloves are a firm favourite – providing great general protection when working outdoors. The three pairs combine latex, nylon and nitrile for a comfy and grippy design, making them a reliable choice for light-duty gardening. See our full range of gardening gloves here.
Whatever jobs you have planned in the garden this August, you’ll find all these products and many more on our website. Happy summer gardening!
