Exclusive: get qualified to fly the largest specialist drones available in the UK, safely executing spraying and spreading in forestry and agricultural settings.
Full Description
This course is open to anyone with an interest in maximising the advantages and efficiencies of drone spraying and spreading. It will also suit those looking to advance their knowledge of crop protection and seeding from the air, or individuals and organisations seeking to understand the latest large drone capabilities.
On successful completion of the course, you will receive:
- CAA Approved General Visual Line of Sight qualification
- LANTRA Approved Safe use of Pesticides certification
- LANTRA UAS Spraying and Spreading certification
- Hands on maintenance and flight planning
This is a five-day course (four days run over five to allow for weather) with a 50% hands-on element. Training is delivered by leading Lantra-qualified drone instructors, including the team responsible for training the Police and Fire Service in drone flight, and renowned specialist agricultural and amenity assessors.
To enrol, you should have a minimum two hours’ flight time (flying any drone). These hours do not need to be logged with the CAA. Talk to us if you do not have this flight time under your belt – we may be able to incorporate this into the course for you.
You do not need to have an A2CofC qualification or a GVC certificate. However, you will be required to undertake pre-learning prior to the course if you do not hold a GVC certificate. You do not need insurance.
The course currently takes place at Harper Adams University and is administered by RAE 6245.
Next course dates:

Important
- Pesticide use and spraying and spreading of a pesticide is subject to additional legislation. It is not permitted unless an Aerial Permit is obtained from the HSE. Pesticides are not used or sprayed during this course.
- The course is designed to help you demonstrate your competence to obtain an Operating Safety Case (OSC). You will need this in place to operate a drone over 25kg. There are three routes to achieving this once you have completed the course:
- Develop your own OSC and obtain an independent OA.
- Work with us in the development of your OSC and engage us to walk you through the OA application process.
- A mix of the above. An individual or organisation may be allowed to operate under the trainers’ OA for a temporary period in order to allow training and an OSC to be developed using either of the above methods.
Additional information
- Once booked, you will be contacted for a pre-course assessment. This takes 30 minutes and aims to help the trainers understand your personal objectives and current flight status.
- Depending on your personal qualifications, you may be sent online learning to complete prior to enrolment.
- If you are required to complete the GVC online assessment in advance, you will undertake the practical element during the course.
- Adjustments are made for individual needs and disabilities. Please ensure you mention any specific needs during your pre-course assessment.
- Once you have completed your order, we will contact you within 24 hours to confirm your chosen date.
- After booking, you will be sent a joining pack with accommodation and other practical information, including cancellation policies.
